Makers Grant Fund

What is the Makers Grant Fund?

In 2021, when Bailey and Rachel founded the Missoula Makers Collective — the nonprofit arm of Making Missoula’s creative ecosystem — they envisioned more than just a space for makers to connect and grow. They recognized a fundamental need: the need for capital and support to help local makers turn their passion into thriving businesses. And so, the Makers Grant Fund was born.

Fueled by a commitment to invest in Missoula’s creative economy, the fund was created from 5% of all booth fees collected through the Missoula Makers Collective, along with additional donations from generous community members. Its mission is simple: to provide makers with the key capital they need to take their craft to the next level.

In 2023, the Makers Grant Fund awarded its very first grant to Robin Graf, a print artist whose work has long been a staple of the Missoula creative scene. Robin’s grant allowed her to expand her work, reach new audiences, and further cement her role in our community. In 2024, we awarded the grant to Bonita of Cosita Botanicals, an herbal remedy business. With the funds, Bonita was able to purchase packaging materials in bulk for the first time, lowering overall expenses and creating sustainable margins for their inventory.

This year, we are proud to continue this tradition of support with a $1,000 grant. These awards represent more than just financial support—they are investments in the future of Missoula’s creative community.

Robin Graf - 2023 Grant Recipient

"Receiving the Making Missoula Grant made it possible for me to purchase my own printing press- a goal I’ve had for Inkworm Press for several years. A press of that size has allowed me increase my product output and experiment with new printing processes, ultimately giving me the momentum to pursue making and selling artwork full-time."
